Amit Rana graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and works as a digital technology consultant and project manager for clients in various industries. In 2010, he led the effort to found the Chicago South Asian Film Festival served as the Festival Director till 2014. He was bitten by the film bug at a young age and was an ardent follower of both Western and Eastern cinema. While in University, he directed two student plays for the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. After graduating he maintained his creative pursuits directing several short films like “Dawn of a New Day” for the 48 Hour Film Project and also performing sketch comedy with the local Chicago minority group Taco Flavored Eggrolls. He studied acting and performed improvised comedy at the prestigious Second City Conservatory Program. He currently serves as the President of the Chicago South Asian Arts Council.
